Light

The time of day is critical for showing the space at it’s absolute best. For each project I plan out the shoot using google maps and sun mapping tools alongside your design plan and work out the best time of day to highlight the key aspects of the space. Light coming from right direction is essential for vibrant colour, accentuating depth through tone, texture and contrast which in turn highlight your planting choices.

People

Whether it is the designer, the owner, the gardener or a general figure, placing people within the space is a wonderful tool for your clients to envisage themselves within the spaces you create. These spaces are created to be enjoyed and lived in, people bring context.

Overviews

wide encompassing views speak to the space as a whole. The master plan of the garden can be spoken to and it develops a perspective

Drone

Drone imagery is a key tool for showing layout especially in densely planted spaces or wide sprawling spaces that are tricky to show as a whole in a single frame. Elevation can also bring separation and help distinguish the planting combinations in a way that isn’t as effective from the ground. I am a qualified and certified drone operator and i’m able to work within 4km of aerodromes and keep myself and your business reputation safe by abiding by the rules as determined by CAA and other parties such as local and district councils.

Materials

You choose the materials you use for a reason, why not highlight those choices. If it’s a high end bespoke element, tell the story and make a point of having such a show-stopping element. If it’s resourcefully used materials that’ve saved the customer money and still delivered a great result then celebrate the client’s win and the fact that you were able to deliver it.

The Details

Close up details of plant combinations, material textures and single stems may seem surplus to requirements but they highlight quality and provide visual punch alongside wider shots . They hero quality and show how the plan or product works in detail first, which combined in a wider space brings visual and contextual reward.
